360 Welcome New Generation of Wind Technicians
Vestas Apprentices Visit 360 Safety & Training Facilities
We were delighted to welcome the year's intake of Vestas apprentices to our safety training centre in Ayr. The apprentices along with their managers visited as part of a tour of wind farms and facilities prior to starting college.
Everyone was given a tour of our facilities including classrooms, practical areas and break areas.
All the apprentices were taken into our training nacelle to see what a wind turbine will look like on the inside. One of our safety trainers took the apprentices onto the roof and they used a controlled rate descender to evacuate to the floor. This gave them a taste of some of the exercises they will carry out when they do their GWO training.
Vestas Services Support Team Lead, Eugenia Whitby, commented, 'I was really impressed with the facilities available at 360 Safety and Training. Additionally, the guys on the team made our apprentices feel welcome and safe, they had a great time trying on the equipment and (literally) learning the ropes! A highlight of their week.'
360 Safety & Training Operations Director, Fraser Queen, added, 'It is great to have the apprentices visit our facilities. Getting young people involved in the renewables industry is important to us and we look forward to seeing these apprentices back when they complete their GWO training during their apprenticeship.'
The apprentices will start studying at Ayrshire College before gaining practical experience on wind farms across Scotland.
Everyone at 360 Safety & Training wish them all the best and look forward to welcoming them back for their GWO training.
