Dummy waiting to be placed for emergency drill training

Emergency drill scenarios

A few weeks ago, Nordex and a GWO 360 Safety and Training consultant carried out two emergency drill scenarios in a Senvion turbine at a Ventient wind farm.

Having rescued a dummy from the hub of the turbine, technicians then carried out a rescue from the nacelle, which required moving the dummy from the far side of the high-speed shaft and simulating the evacuation on a stretcher. They also contacted Ventient's Control Centre and gave details of the subject’s vitals and how the rescue was progressing.

These emergency drills allow our service providers to test their rescue procedures in a supervised, controlled environment, and they also give Ventient a chance to test site emergency response plans and see how our team reacts in a simulated emergency. Lessons learned are then fed back and emergency procedures and plans can be updated as required – all helping to improve things in case of a real emergency occurring onsite.
